According to a filing with the California Employment Development Department, major global chipmaker Qualcomm is planning to lay off 1,258 of its California-based employees.
Impacted roles span from the company’s San Diego and Santa Clara campuses and include human resources, legal counsel and engineers.
The layoffs are expected to take place around the middle of December.
The move comes just one month after Qualcomm’s announcement that it would provide technology giant Apple with 5G chips through 2026.
