Nokia and Dell Technologies are collaborating to establish private 5G networks and adapt networks to the cloud.
Current users Nokia’s AirFrame data center business will eventually be switched to Dell’s PowerEdge servers, the companies said, adding they are “purpose built for modern telecom network workloads.” In turn, Dell will use Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud as its preferred private wireless platform for some of its enterprise customers.
The companies aim to integrate the Digital Automation Cloud with Dell’s NativeEdge software platform as a way to “advance open network architectures in the telecom ecosystem and private 5G use cases among businesses.”
Nokia and Dell, which have an existing partnership, plan to continue joint work on research and development. This will include testing platforms and applications in Dell’s Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab.
