Today, Ford released its April 2025 sales update, reporting a 16% increase in U.S. sales.
Sales of Ford’s pickup trucks rose 23% to 99,954 units this month.
The company disclosed the figures just ahead of its eagerly awaited earnings report on May 5, as the U.S. auto industry experiences a notable increase in sales, driven by tariff worries.
Ford CEO Jim Farley announced that the automaker is extending its “employee pricing” through July 4 to further encourage sales.
“We want to keep our prices competitive and low. We think this is an opportunity for Ford. We have a different footprint, a different exposure for tariffs,” Farley said.
Regarding tariffs and President Trump’s pressure on automakers to bring all manufacturing into the US, Farley stated, “We have to import certain parts. We can’t even buy those parts here.”
“The affordability of parts is a really important thing for America because we’ve got to keep the vehicles affordable. Yes we want to make them like Ford does in the US, but we also want to make the vehicles affordable that are built in the US. The parts are critical for that.”
Farley concluded, “We need to continue to work closely with the administration on a comprehensive set of policies to support our shared vision for a healthy and growing auto industry in America. We are not there yet.”
