TikTok has launched new in-app guided meditation exercises to promote better digital habits, especially among young users.
The feature, aimed at improving sleep quality, will activate during “sleep hours.” For users under 18, it defaults to “on.”
If teens use the app after 10 p.m., their “For You” feed will be interrupted by a meditation prompt, followed by a full-screen reminder if they continue browsing.
The feature was tested earlier this year and is now being expanded to all users.
The update comes as TikTok faces scrutiny and lawsuits over its impact on youth mental health. A coalition of state attorneys general claims the platform contributes to addiction, depression, and body image issues.
TikTok defended its safety efforts and also announced new educational feeds, stronger parental controls, and US$2.3 million in ad credits for 31 mental health organizations in 22 countries.
