Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” is on track to become the largest in concert history, with the potential to gross over $1 billion.
That sum would break the record for global concert tours, which is currently held by Elton John.
It could also lead to higher ticket prices and concert-industry revenues.
“What we’re seeing on this particular Taylor tour is almost like a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon,” said Jarred Arfa, executive vice president and head of global music at Independent Artist Group,
In recent weeks, Swift announced dozens of new international dates that will take her to South America, Asia, Australia and Europe.
Besides her original 52 U.S. dates, which end in August, she’ll be playing 54 shows overseas, bringing her to 106 gigs, and even more gigs could be added.
Swift’s outsize success comes amid a booming market for arena and stadium shows from superstars like Beyoncé and Madonna.
