On Wednesday, major electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla issued a recall for almost all of its nearly two million vehicles currently driving on U.S. roads.
The recall comes following the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s ruling that Tesla’s autopilot system is easily misused and gives drivers a false sense of security.
Tesla will subsequently roll out an update implementing a more expansive warning system for its affected autopilot-equipped vehicles.
However, the autopilot controversy is expected to provide a blow to Tesla’s business model of charging users more money for access to the self-driving feature.
