Employment generated by US multinational enterprises continued a 20-year upward trend in the US while employment in majority owned foreign affiliates stagnated, according to the US Bureau for economic Analysis (BEA).
US multinational enterprises saw their pool of employees grow worldwide by 2.2% in 2022, according to statistics released today by the US Bureau of Ecomic Analysis, as worldwide expenditure for property, plant and equipment by these enterprises increased by 11.4% to $1.0 trillion.
Worldwide R&D expenditure of US multinational enterprises increased 10.8% to reach $521.5 billion.
Value added by US multinational enterprises showed a third year of gains in the United States increasing 4.3% to 45.3 trillion while majority owned foreign affiliate value added increased 4.6% to $1.6 trillion.
Employment by majority-owned foreign affiliates of US multinational enterprises accounted for 31.7% of employment by US multinational enterprises worldwide.
