Individuals born in the early 80s held 5.1 jobs between the ages of 18 and 23 and 2.1 jobs from ages 30 to 34, according to a new release from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Men held an average 8.5 jobs regardless of level of education in the 18 to 34 ages bracket and women 8.7 jobs. Women in with a bachelor’s degree or higher held 9.1 jobs between those ages and female high school dropouts held 6.8 jobs.
At their 25th birthday 29% of women had received a bachelor’s degree or higher compared to 21% of men, according to the study. Women dropouts were employed 39% of weeks between 18 and 34 while men were employed 64% of weeks.
Men on average spent more time on the labor market at 85% than women at 77% and more time employed at 79% of weeks than women at 72%.
Notably Latino high school dropouts were employed 60% of the weeks between the ages of 18 and 34 while white high school dropouts were employed 58% of the time and black high school dropouts 39%.
