Amazon’s former worldwide consumer chief Dave Clark will become the new CEO of the supply chain software start-up Flexport in September.
The announcement was made in Clark’s LinkedIn account and only a few days after he also said he was leaving the e-commerce giant after working there for two decades.
“I am fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with an incredible team who are building a customer-first, rocket ship of a company focused on architecting and building solutions for the most complicated supply chain problems through world class technology for the physical world,” Clark wrote in the social media.
Clark will bring deep expertise in logistics and fulfillment systems. He was responsible for turning Amazon’s warehouse network from only a few facilities, to a massive supply juggernaut that used a fleet of planes and in house trucks and delivery vans.
In February Flexport more than doubled its valuation to $8 billion after a funding round.
Flexport founder and CEO Ryan Petersen will become an executive chairman in March of 2023. Clark will also join Flexport’s board in September.
“Over the last two decades, Dave helped scale Amazon into the technology and supply chain juggernaut it is today,” Petersen said in a statement.
Amazon said a replacement for Clark will be named over the next few weeks.
