Beginning on Jan. 1, Delta Air Lines will implement a new set of standards that will change how its customers can earn Delta Medallion elite frequent flyer status.
Customers will now only be able to earn points that contribute toward their status through spending with Delta’s branded cards on the company’s products.
Delta customers will reportedly receive 1 Medallion Qualifying Dollar for every dollar spent on flights, vacation packages, hotels and car rentals made through Delta while using its branded cards.
However, American Express cardholders must spend significantly more to earn points to qualify for elite status, between $10 and $20 for every 1 Medallion Qualifying Dollar depending on which Delta-branded American Express card they hold.
