Following the controversial fuselage blowout on one of Boeing’s 737 Max 9s flown by Alaska Airlines on Friday, Jan. 5, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration announced that the plane manufacturer has agreed to revise the present inspection rules for its 737 Max 9 model.
The FAA previously ordered all operative 737 Max 9s to be grounded following the Alaska Airlines incident, where they are set to remain until thorough inspections of each 737 Max 9 model have been conducted.
“Boeing offered an initial version of instructions yesterday which they are now revising because of feedback received in response,” the FAA said on Tuesday. “Upon receiving the revised version of instructions from Boeing the FAA will conduct a thorough review.”
Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board is currently conducting its investigation into the Alaska Airlines’ blowout event.
