According to figures from the European Union Climate Change Service, summer 2023 was the hottest summer on record yet.
The average global temperature reportedly reached 16.8 degrees Celsius between June and August, .66 Celsius above normal.
Likewise, summer 2023 brought the hottest June, July and August ever seen on global record.
“The scientific evidence is overwhelming, we will continue to see more climate records and more intense and frequent extreme weather events impacting society and ecosystems, until we stop emitting greenhouse gasses,” said deputy head of Copernicus, Samantha Burgess.
