Technology giant Google has ended its plans to develop a $15 billion expansion in the Bay Area, the company announced Friday.
The project, which was made in partnership with Australian development company Landleasd, would have added offices, homes and retail spaces across four Silicon Valley cities.
“The decision to end these agreements followed a comprehensive review by Google of its real estate investments, and a determination by both organizations that the existing agreements are no longer mutually beneficial given current market conditions,” Lendlease said at the time.
Google reportedly still intends to follow through on bringing new living spaces to the Bay Area, but without Lendlease as its exclusive developer.
