Automaking giant General Motors is stopping its robotaxi service in California, the company announced Thursday.
GM, which operates driverless taxi service Cruise, had its driverless vehicle permits revoked by the California DMV following controversies surrounding Cruise’s safety.
“We have decided to proactively pause driverless operations across all of our fleets while we take time to examine our processes, systems, and tools and reflect on how we can better operate in a way that will earn public trust,” GM-run Cruise said on X.
However, the company denied that the service suspension is “related to any new on-road incidents.”
