When it comes to working from home, remote workers are reportedly increasingly willing to move off the beaten path toward more affordable areas.
As U.S. home prices and rental costs have surged over recent years, workers that aren’t tied down to an in-person office location have had the luxury of cutting housing costs by moving outside of cities and into rural locations.
According to data from Fannie Mae’s monthly National Housing Survey, 22% of remote workers were open to moving to a new location at the beginning of 2023, up 8% from Q3 2021.
With inflation continuing to impact the average American’s wallet, it’s no surprise remote workers are taking their flexible job accessibility toward increasing regions with affordability.
