A recently released report from the AFL-CIO has signaled that the massive pay gap between CEOs and their employees is only set to widen in the years to come – especially as artificial intelligence is further implemented into the everyday workplace and takes jobs away from U.S. workers.
According to the AFL-CIO, the average salary for a CEO at an S&P 500 company was $16.7 million in 2023, the second highest compensation level in history.
Meanwhile, the average pay for U.S. workers fell 1.6% following inflation adjustment.
The average worker supposedly would need to work for five lifetimes to earn the same amount one of these CEOs makes in a single calendar year.
