Hollywood actors may soon be joining screenwriters on the picket lines.
The actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA, and the major studios are trying to reach a deal by midnight Wednesday as the two sides haggle over higher wages, increased residual payments (a type of royalty) and significant guardrails around the use of artificial intelligence.
If the actors go on strike, it would be the first time in 63 years that both actors and writers are out at the same time over a contract dispute
About 80 percent of Hollywood is already shut down since the writers went on strike on May 2.
