According to the Federal Communications Commission, more than 20 million U.S. households have enrolled in the government’s Affordable Connectivity Program.
The federal program allows eligible U.S. households to receive a subsidy of $30 per month off of their internet bill in hopes of offering reliable, affordable internet to the entire country.
Qualified participants must be under a certain income threshold, receive pell grants or be enrolled in other federal programs like Medicaid or SNAP.
The 20 million households currently enrolled in the Affordable Connectivity Program only represent 40% of the 50 million households thought to be eligible for the subsidy.
