The US will temporary close its border with Canada to non-essential traffic.
By mutual consent, President Trump announced via Twitter that the United States will be temporarily closing its Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic as COVID-19 continues sweeping across the globe.
The coronavirus has already infected more than 204,000 people and killed 8,244, according to a New York Times database. In the US alone, at least 5,881 people across every state, plus Washington, DC, and three territories, have tested positive for coronavirus. The World Health Organization classified the coronavirus as a pandemic on March 11.
On the Canadian side, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the country would close its borders to anyone who is not a citizen, permanent resident, or US citizen as the coronavirus pandemic worsens. Donald Trump also said that he will be having a news conference today to discuss very important news from the FDA concerning COVID-19.
We will be, by mutual consent, temporarily closing our Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic. Trade will not be affected. Details to follow!
