Walmart has found an interesting trend: Tops sales have increased, bottoms haven’t.

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, many people have turned to work from home to avoid a more intense widespread of the disease that has already invaded and drastically hit capital like New York City.

This trend has revealed a truly interesting for Walmart: Tops have seen an increase in sales, bottoms haven’t. Why? As video conferencing is still a necessity among workers, many are using business attire on top and casual clothing from the waist down. That’s what Walmart’s executive vice president of corporate affairs Dan Bartlett told Yahoo Finance, according to CNN.

So, people who are concerned, obviously, from the waist up,” he said to Yahoo Finance! “These behaviors are going to continue to change and evolve as people get accustomed to this new lifestyle, if you will.”
Dan Bartlett also added that in addition to tops and cleaning products, home entertainment items like DVDs and crafting items like popsicle sticks have seen a specific boost in sales. The retail giant has also said that even though other stores like Adidas and Nike have shit down there stores worldwide, Walmart plans to hire 150,000 new hourly associates in the U.S., and announce $550 million in cash bonuses to reward workers amid the coronavirus pandemic that has all but shut down the economy. Bartlett said that’s happening, however, the retailer is giving priority to existing employees to add hours before new hires come on board.
