A new Abu Dhabi-based company called Desert Board is aiming to cut down the construction industry’s carbon emissions through the recycling and repurposing of date palm trees.
According to the company, Desert Palm can take date palm tree waste and recycle it into a material called Palm Strand Board (PSB) that’s capable of replacing plywood in construction projects.“
This is taking nature-based waste and turning it into a product with value and use,” said Desert Board Director Kamal Farah.
Desert Palm says that every ton of PSB produced is equal to the capture of 400 kilograms of carbon.
