Late Tuesday evening, an offshore wind farm delivered energy to the U.S. grid for the second time in U.S. history.
Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, the dual partners of the Vineyard Wind project, announced the achievement on Wednesday.
The energy reportedly came from a singular turbine at the farm located 15 miles off the coast of Massuchesetts, which is eventually planned to become a 62 turbine farm.
Danish company Ørsted and its partner Eversource previously sent offshore wind energy to the U.S. grid for the first time last month via its South Fork Wind farm off the coast of New York.
