A 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck central Japan on Monday, causing the nation to issue a tsunami advisory and urge approximately 100,000 citizens to evacuate the region.
The quake reportedly set off one meter tall waves across the Japanese west coast and South Korea, left tens of thousands of Japanese residents without power and caused one casualty as of Monday afternoon.
This marks the largest earthquake in central Japan in nearly 40 years, said the U.S. Geological Survey.
Japan previously suffered a 9.1 magnitude earthquake in the northwest back in March 2011, which caused the deaths of nearly 20,000 individuals.
