The U.S. mortgage rate fell for the second week in a row during the week ending Sept. 7, mortgage giant Freddie Mac revealed Thursday.
According to Freddie Mac’s data, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage sat at 7.12% for the week, down from 7.18% the week prior.
However, this is the fourth consecutive week that the mortgage rate remains above 7% after reaching an all-time high in August.
In comparison, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage sat at 5.89% just one year ago.
