England has the most valuable football league as the 2018/2019 season kicks off.

Football is back!

After a profitable 2018 Russia World Cup, leagues around the world have begun their local activities.

As the ball begins to roll once again, Transfermarkt has studied the value of the leagues throughout Europe after transfers have shocked the football world through and through.

The English league remains unquestionably the most expensive league on the transfer market, reaching a €7.83 billion euro value, followed by La Liga in Spain, which rounds up a €4.99 billion value.

Serie A, which just added Cristiano to its group of stars after joining Juventus, enjoys a €4.36 billion value, while Germany´s Bundesliga tops a €3.57 billion mark and Ligue 1 of France reaches €2,75 billion, despite the likes of Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani, and a serious group of expensive footballers.

Manchester City (£964.35m)

Real Madrid (£879.57m)

Chelsea (£826.20m)

Liverpool (£809.55m)

Manchester United (£769.50m)

League economy, an economy on the rise

According to Statista, since 2008, the total value of footballers in the five leagues has more than doubled to reach a provisional total of €23.5 billion at the start of the 2018-19 season.

This rise is mainly due to the widespread increase in TV rights and marketing contracts of each league.

France’s Ligue 1 has seen the total value of its players double between 2008 and 2018 but remains far behind the Premier League.

Most valuable teams

Of course, if we have the most valuable leagues of this season, who is the world´s most valuable team?

Contrary to the Premier League closing in on position #1, Barcelona from Spain´s La Liga is the team with biggest market value in the world, closing on a £1.06bn market value.

Bayern Munich (£760.19m)

Tottenham (£751.05m)

Paris Saint-Germain (£749.52m)

Atlético de Madrid (£726.30m)
