Technology giant Meta is rolling out end-to-end encryption as the default setting on Facebook and Messenger, the company announced Wednesday.
The move will see the content of users’ messages mixed-up and rearranged for all eyes except those of the messenger and its intended recipient.
Another one of Meta’s companies, WhatsApp, previously defaulted end-to-end encryption back in 2016.
However, the move could face potential pushback from the U.S. government as the encryption could purportedly facilitate criminal activity on Meta’s social media applications.
