On Tuesday, technology giant Google announced its plans to make traditional passwords a thing of the past, instead replacing them with passkeys.
The passkeys would allow users to unlock or use devices through biometrics or a pin number.
According to Google, passkeys will now be the default access method when users sign up for a Google-owned platform.
“We’ll continue encouraging the industry to make the pivot to passkeys — making passwords a rarity, and eventually obsolete,” said Google.
