The Small Business Administration has announced $30 million in grant funding to support Women’s Business Centers, providing eligible organizations the opportunity receive up to $150,000 to open and operate these centers, which are aimed at assisting women entrepreneurs.
Currently, there are 152 in-person WBCs across all 50 states and Puerto Rico. The SBA is now extending eligibility for these grants to organizations that primarily offer virtual counseling and training services to women-owned small businesses nationwide, in addition to the in-person offices.
“Every new WBC helps open doors for women entrepreneurs who need access to training and practical assistance to stand up and grow their small businesses,” said Christina Hale, Assistant Administrator for the SBA’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership.
The grants will be distributed across four key areas: supporting women business owners in government contracting, providing entrepreneurial development services to women-owned small businesses focused on child care, offering general entrepreneurial development services in regions without existing centers, and establishing a new center in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
