Samsung Electronics has announced that this year’s shareholder returns could total up to 110 trillion won ($79.54 billion), with 30 trillion won in cash dividends expected in the third quarter, according to a statement on Friday.
The 110 trillion won would be more than five times the previous high in shareholder returns, which was 20.3 trillion won in 2020.
On Friday, the company announced it has repurchased shares valued at 15 trillion won for employee stock bonuses. The board plans to determine the remaining payouts in January 2027, considering options such as cash dividends, share buybacks, and share cancellations.
Samsung’s 2024-2026 shareholder return policy allocates 50% of the free cash flow generated over three years to shareholders.
The news follows Samsung recently announcing a record quarterly operating profit of 89.5 trillion won for Q2 2026, marking an 1,814% year-on-year increase. The Device Solutions division, which includes memory chip operations, earned 127.5 trillion won in revenue and 89.2 trillion won in operating profit, mainly driven by demand for AI servers.
The company also confirmed it has secured contracts with its five largest global data center clients.
Samsung shares gained 3.5% Friday following the announcement.
