United Parcel Service said Tuesday that it had reached a tentative deal on a five-year contract with the employees union.
The union represents more than 325,000 of its U.S. workers.
The agreement is a key step in averting a potential strike.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ UPS members voted to authorize a walkout after the expiration of the current agreement on Aug. 1.
