Following two days of talks in London, the U.S. and China announced a new push to move past recent tensions and restart negotiations that were initially planned after the Geneva gathering last month.
Today, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told the press, “We have reached a framework to implement the Geneva consensus.”
“Once the presidents approve it, we will then seek to implement it,” he concluded.
Speaking from London, Chinese Vice Premier, He Lifeng, stated: “The United States should resolve trade disputes with China through equal dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation… the United States should work with China to honor their words with actions, and demonstrate sincerity in keeping commitments and concrete efforts to implement consensus, so as to jointly safeguard the hard-won outcomes of dialogue.”
The deals must now be submitted for approval to U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
