Private equity mogul Leon Black agreed Friday to pay the U.S. Virgin Islands $62.5 million to avoid a potential lawsuit over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
The billionaire investor will, as a result of the deal, be released from any potential claims arising out of the territory’s three-year investigation into the sex trafficking operation of disgraced financier Epstein-
The settlement came after the Virgin Islands reached a $105 million deal in November with Mr. Epstein’s estate.
The territory also sued JPMorgan Chase in federal court over the bank’s 15-year relationship with Epstein, a registered sex offender who killed himself in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019.
