After months of litigation, a federal judge on Tuesday ruled that Microsoft can close its $75 billion acquisition of Activision.
The decision was a major setback to the Biden administration’s attempt to rein in big mergers.
The deal will allow combine Microsoft’s Xbox videogaming business to merge with the publisher of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft and Candy Crush.
The ruling means there are now no current U.S. obstacles to the two companies merging, although the U.K. — where Activision is based — still has objections.
