Today, fitness giant Peloton has issued a recall for its original Bike+ following reports of seat post failures that caused detachment during operation, resulting in two injuries, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recall affects 833,000 units, encompassing every original Bike+ the company has ever sold from January 2020 to April 2025, although Peloton stopped manufacturing them in 2022.
The announcement follows Peloton receiving two reports of injuries “due to a fall” after the post broke off, according to the CPSC. In total, it received three reports concerning the issue.
The CPSC recommends that consumers stop using the bikes immediately and contact Peloton for a free repair. Peloton is providing a free seat post that users can install themselves at home, the agency stated.
In a statement, Peloton told consumers, “The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities.” The company encouraged users to request the new part “as soon as possible.”
Today’s recall is the second instance where Peloton has had to issue a recall for one of its bike models because of problems with the seat postt, and the fifth since the company’s founding.
Today, CEO Peter Stern is anticipated to announce the first quarter fiscal 2026 earnings after the market closes.
Peloton shares dropped 1% after the recall was announced.
