Elon Musk will testify in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s investigation into the his takeover of Twitter, according to a court filing on Thursday, settling the tech billionaire’s most recent legal battle with the agency.
On a yet-to-be disclosed date, Musk will undergo questioning with the SEC. In the agreement, Musk also acceded to not appealing the court ruling that required him to comply with the commission’s subpoena. He previously refused to attend an interview related to the SEC probe, resulting in the agency filing suit to force him to comply.
The SEC’s investigation is looking into whether Musk violated federal securities law when he bought stock in Twitter—now renamed X—in 2022, as well as reviewing statements and SEC filings he made at the same time.
