SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has announced that he expects his company to earn $15.5 billion by the end of 2025.
Musk’s comments coincided with SpaceX’s launch of 23 Starlink satellites, including 13 featuring Direct to Cell capabilities, into low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
According to Musk, SpaceX’s revenue is expected to surpass NASA’s by the close of 2025, despite the differences in their services. NASA continues to fund deep space exploration and research missions, while SpaceX has relied on the increasing demand for affordable launch services and satellite communications to drive its revenue.
Musk posted his revenue prediction on X, writing: “Perhaps an interesting milestone: “SpaceX commercial revenue from space will exceed the entire budget of “@NASA next year. SpaceX revenue this year will be ~$15.5B, of which NASA is ~$1.1B.”
Moving forward, Musk’s company is developing a 400-foot tall Starship rocket system designed to send humans to Mars. SpaceX is also concentrating on its reusable Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets, enabling the company to capture a substantial share of the global launch market.
