U.S. lawmakers are trying to loosen a law that limits long-distance flights to and from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which would mean more jobs and tourism for the capital, and, for some of them, could mean shorter commutes.
Led by Republican Representative Blake D. Moore of Utah, the congresspersons are pushing to change a federal law in order to allow more nonstop flights between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and other U.S. cities, allegedly to increase tourism revenues.
The lawmakers want to add 28 new round-trip flights per day at Reagan National.
A decades-old law currently that prevents most flights from traveling more than 1,250 miles to or from Reagan National.
