As Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump prepare for the final weeks of their campaigns, new polls released on Sunday show only a narrow margin between the two candidates. According to the ABC News-Ipsos poll, Harris narrowly leads Trump 50 percent to 48 percent. Last month, the same survey showed Harris at a 5-point lead. A CBS News-YouGov poll, also released Sunday, found a more minor shift, showing Harris at a 4-point lead.
Today, both candidates are taking the battle to opposite sides of Pennsylvania, with Harris speaking in Erie and Trump in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The fight for Pennsylvania has been identified as the most important in the election, with Harris making over ten visits so far in her campaign. The state is critical for gaining Electoral College votes for both campaigns, and these final pitches to voters are crucial.
Also hoping to support the campaigns further, Gov. Tim Walz is today campaigning in the key state of Wisconsin as Democrats launch a tour in the “blue wall” states. At the same time, Republican Sen. JD Vance travels to Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa.
Today, Harris revealed a new “opportunity agenda”, offering forgivable loans of up to $20,000 to entrepreneurs in underserved communities. On Sunday, Trump announced his latest plan to hire additional Border Patrol agents as he makes immigration and the border a central part of his message.
