According to a new analysis from health policy organization KFF, popular weight loss drugs are priced higher in the United States than in other countries across the globe.
Novo Nordisk’s semaglutide injection Ozempic reportedly costs U.S. consumers $936 per month at retail price, while just costing $168 for consumers in Japan.
A monthly supply of Ozempic likewise only costs $103 in Germany, $83 in France and $96 in Sweden.
The analysis says that some of the aforementioned countries, unlike the United States, directly negotiate lower list prices with drug manufacturers in order to make medications more affordable to their residents.
