Following its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines in 2024, Alaska Airlines has announced its international expansion, starting in Summer 2026. As part of this plan, Alaska aims to operate at least 12 intercontinental nonstops from its main hub in Seattle.

According to the airline, Alaska Airlines is accelerating its future as a “premium global carrier – growing bigger, flying farther”.

The company will also debut its new global exterior design as part of a new global experience carrying the Alaska name.

Alaska Airlines intends to operate daily flights between Seattle and London’s Heathrow Airport using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, relying on projected demand for both business and leisure travelers. Additionally, a seasonal service between Seattle and Reykjavik with a 737 Max 8 will be available during spring and summer.

The airline is also scheduled to launch flights between Seattle and Seoul, South Korea, in September, while its daily flights to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport started in May.

Alaska CEO, CEO Ben Minicucci told investors, “With these bold moves, we are accelerating our vision to connect our guests to the world. We are seizing this moment to redefine the international experience and level up. And we’re doing it with the same relentless focus on safety, care and performance that’s always defined us. I’m so proud of how our people continue to step up and deliver as we push ahead on these initiatives, with even more to come.”

Andrew Harrison, Alaska’s Chief Commercial Officer commented: “As we significantly expand to new destinations around the globe, we’re eager for more and more travelers to recognize our new livery as being Alaska Airlines and appreciate the outstanding service we’ve long been known for.”

The airline announced that “The Alaska Native on Alaska narrowbody aircraft and Pualani on all Hawaiian Airlines’ aircraft flying to, from and within the Hawaiian Islands are not going away. They will remain unchanged as essential elements of our brands’ legacies and history.”
