Live Nation, parent company of Ticketmaster, said that more than 560 million customers could be affected by a data breach after a group of hackers claimed to have personal information. A securities filing from the company showed that it discovered “unauthorized activity within a third-party cloud database environment containing company data” on May 20.
Hacking group ShinyHunters said the following week that it had 1.3 terabytes of Ticketmaster user data, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, order details and credit card information. The group claimed to be selling the data on the dark web for $500,000.
The ticketing and events company said on Friday that there’s no evidence that the breach had a “material impact” on its business operation. “As appropriate, we are also notifying regulatory authorities and users with respect to unauthorized access to personal information,” Live Nation said.
