According to the U.S. State Department, the application processing time for a U.S. passport has finally returned to pre-pandemic levels.
Standard processing service now reportedly takes between six and eight weeks while expedited passport applications take between two and three weeks.
Passport processing times previously stood at 18 weeks back in 2021.
“With this update, we have fulfilled our commitment to return to benchmarks from March 2020,” the department said in a statement. “This reflects the work of dedicated employees working for the American people.”
