Global economies are wobbly, but vacationers and businesspeople are still anxious to fly as the voracious post-pandemic demand for air travel continues.
According to aviation executives at last week’s Paris Air Show, carriers are buying new planes at unprecedented rates.
“There is economic slowdown, but airlines do not see a slowdown of bookings,” said Airbus chief executive.Guillaume Faury,
“And they continue to see a very strong demand with high prices.”
But even Airbus, the world’s largest airplane manufacturer, is strapped by a limited ability to quickly increase production due to constraints on the supply of engines, chips and workers.
Both companies have reported long order backlogs.
Meanwhile, airlines are scrambling to reserve planes, even though they won’t be delivered for years to come.
