On Sunday, delegates from more than 200 countries attending the UNFCCC COP28 Climate Conference agreed to launch a fund aiming to mitigate the impact of climate change on developing countries.
The fund will purportedly distribute voluntary donations toward nations affected by rising sea levels, warming temperatures, and droughts, among other climate-based issues.
The UAE pledged $100 million, the European Union $225 million, and the United States $17.5 million to the fund’s initial round.
However, climate advocacy groups went on to characterize the initial donations as insufficient to make an impact.
