In its quest to cut down on the nation’s fossil fuel output, Canada is purportedly implementing a rule that all new cars in the country must have zero emissions by the year 2035.
The so-called Electric Vehicle Availability Standard will reportedly allow greater electric vehicle supply to the Canadian market.
The regulation’s provisions will require that 20% of all new car sales in 2026 are zero-emission, followed by 60% in 2030 and 100% in 2035.
EVs currently make up 13% of all global vehicle sales but are expected to make up between 40% and 45% of all international car sales by the year 2030.
