A third of young college grads with student loan debt say the financial costs of their bachelor’s degree outweigh the benefits, according to the Pew Research Center, while 16% of college graduates without student debt say the same.
Approximately 25% of all US adults under 40 have student debt, according to the analysis by the think tank.
The median borrower with outstanding student loan debt owed between $20,000 and $24,999. Adults with a post-graduate degree are especially likely to have a large amont of student loan debt with about a quarter of advanced degree holders owing $100,000 or more.
Nonetheless young college graduates with student loans tend to have higher incomes than those without degrees with around half having household incomes of at least $100,000.
