Job openings rates decreased in four states in July with the largest drops in Minnesota with -1.3% and Massachussets and New York with -0.9%, as the national job openings rate remained largely unchanged, according to data released yesterday by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Layoffs and discharge rates for July increased in eight states led by North Dakota with 1.6%, Virginia with 0.7% and South Dakota with 0.6%.
The largest number of layoffs and discharges in July took place in Virginia with 30,000 and Pennsylvania with 29,000.
Hires rates increased in four states led by California and Michigan with 0.7% and Minnesota and Pennsylvania with 0.6%. The largest increases in hires took place in California with 119,000 hires.
