American employees are increasingly seeking remote jobs with international companies as it becomes more difficult to secure remote jobs in the US.
Last year saw a 62% increase in the number of American workers hired by international companies, according to Deel’s State of Global Hiring Report. These workers most frequently take jobs with companies in the U.K., France, Canada, Singapore and Australia.
The shift comes as more US companies do away with remote positions, says Deel CEO Alex Bouaziz. “A couple of our competitors did that, and we hired their best people.”
International companies offering remote roles are well-positioned to tap U.S. employees with unique knowledge and skills in research, content, product, sales and software engineering, Bouaziz said.
