Apple launched its iPhone 16 Insignia model and Huawei its Mate XT yesterday going head-to-head for technical leadership of the mobile phone market.
The Mate XT is tri-foldable phone selling for a heft $2800 which has already garnered 4 million units in pre-orders in China.
Apple’s new iPhone as improved microphone and camera options with four “studio quality” mics as well as a 48-megapixel camera. The Pro-Max starts at $1,199.
Both Huawei’s phone features AI features such as text summary, translation and editing as well as image editing functions such a photo trimming. The iPhone uses machine learning to separate voice recording from background noise and will in the future be able to add background tracks to recordings.
In the Chinese market the iPhone’s lack a AI features was seen as a competitive disadvantage of the American manufacturer.
