State-owned Russian broadcaster RT was banned by Meta from its Facebook and Instagram portals at the behest of the Biden administration, according to a company spokesman.
The company had already banned RT in Europe for the last two years after being branded a foreign agent by the US government.
“After careful consideration, we expanded our ongoing enforcement against Russian state media outlets. Rossiya Segodnya,RT and other related entities are now banned from our apps globally for foreign interference activity,” a Meta spokesman said.
RT had 7 million Facebook followers at the time of the ban.
